Here at Oasis Dental, we want your smile looking and feeling the very best, so you can go about your daily life confidently and proudly. Dr. Aldridge has years of experience, making him the dentist to go to when you need a restorative or cosmetic procedure done. One of the many treatments that we can do here is veneers. These are most often considered a cosmetic procedure, and you are sure to leave beaming, completely satisfied with the results and proud to show your new smile off.
What are Veneers?
A veneer is a great option for minor issues with your teeth, so if your teeth are otherwise healthy but you do not like how they look, this may be right for you. A veneer is a small, porcelain cover that sits on the front surface of a problematic tooth. It is bonded to the tooth completely so that you can go about your daily life without worry of it moving or shifting. You are also able to eat, drink, and speak normally after their application. They allow a variety of cosmetic enhancements.
What are They For?
Veneers can cover up a range of abnormalities in teeth to provide patients with dazzling Hollywood smiles in a very short period. Veneers can cover discoloration, chips and minor cracks, or misshapen teeth. They are also particularly useful if your teeth are a bit crooked, but not enough so to warrant orthodontic treatment. If you have gaps between your teeth that are also not suitable for orthodontic treatment like braces, these can help fill them in as well, enhancing not only the appearance of your smile but the functionality thereof as well.
What is the Process?
The process for getting veneers for your teeth is pretty simple and straightforward. Your first step is simply a consultation. Here, we will listen to your precise oral goals, and we can help to determine if a veneer is the proper treatment plan for you. If it is, then we can start preparing your tooth. This means removing a very thin layer of the enamel to make space for a cover. This means that it will fit well over the surface and not change the size of the tooth, only the appearance. This will be pain-free, but just in case, we make sure to give you a local anesthetic.
From here, we take an impression of your teeth to make a veneer that is the perfect fit. You will get a temporary veneer while that is being made. You will have to come back for a second appointment once your veneers are made and ready to go. We will fit them to make sure there are no flaws (and fix any right there if there is one) and ensure your satisfaction before bonding them onto your teeth with a special dental adhesive. They are now permanently secured to your teeth. You will need to take good care of them, as you would your natural teeth, but your shining new smile is ready to go!
Veneers help to improve the quality of many patients’ smiles, and they are a long-lasting enhancement.
