How a Produce-Rich Diet Can Improve Your Oral Health

When talking about eating right, produce is almost always part of the conversation. After all, we need a balanced diet to survive and fruits/vegetables are what provide a complete, nutritious diet. Today we will be going over how eating a product-rich diet can benefit your oral health.

Many Plant-Based Foods Aid In Oral Health


What makes a diet that is heavy on the produce so great is the wide variety available to you. There are many fruits and vegetables that aid in oral health. Here are a few examples of common fresh produce that are good for your mouth.

Take celery, for instance. Munching on this low-calorie but nutritious plant cleans your teeth as you are chewing it while stimulating saliva that washes away bacteria. Celery is also loaded with potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin K. And like celery, raw carrots also help clean your teeth as you are eating them while giving your jaw a good workout and are filled with vitamins and minerals.

Another excellent plant to make part of your diet is Kale. This popular dark leafy green has calcium which promotes strong teeth, it also incorporates vitamin B, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, and Vitamin A, all of which promote healthy teeth and bones.

Let's not forget the fruit side either! You may have noticed a common theme with produce that aid as a natural toothbrush throughout the day--apples also fill this role! Don't be afraid to pick up oranges either, they are rich in vitamin C which helps strengthen gums and fight gingivitis. Just don't go too overboard since their acid content and erode enamel if eaten too often, but in moderation, they are in excellent choice!
