Dangers That Come with Regularly Skipping Dental Appointments
Posted on 4/10/2019 by Matt Aldridge DDS
Scheduling and keeping two cleanings per year can seem overwhelming at times, but keeping your regularly scheduled appointments with our office is very important for your oral health.
Not only do our dentists deep clean your teeth, they check for other problems that may be developing. And when it comes to maintaining good oral health, early detection is key.
Please Don't Skip Out on Us We understand that you have a lot on your plate and keeping appointments can be difficult, and if you do need to reschedule an appointment, please do not hesitate to call us and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please do not just skip your appointments.
Once you skip an appointment, it becomes easier to skip the next one and the next, and before you know it, it has been a couple of years since you have seen us. In that time, complications with your oral health can go undetected and may even become irreparable.
Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is one of the things that can quickly escalate in your mouth if left untreated, and we do check for it at every cleaning. It can lead to receding gums, decay and even tooth loss and blood infections if left untreated. Keeping regular appointments will help you catch any problems early and avoid them.
Cavities and decay can also be hard to detect on your own. You may have a small cavity, and if you skip a couple of appointments, instead of doing a surface filling, you may end up needing a more serious procedure like a root canal or even an extraction.
Life can be busy! We recognize this and our wonderful staff is here to work with you to schedule your appointments well in advance and accommodate your busy life to the best of their ability. Give us a call today!
A better kind of dental practice for your entire family.
